Recently, I had the privilege of engaging in a captivating conversation with Augustine, a talented photographer and a proud alumnus of the Indian Institute of Photography (IIP Academy). Hailing from Chhattisgarh, Augustine shared that his tryst with photography began during his school and college days, ultimately shaping his career path. In his eyes, having a mentor is vital for every emerging photographer, and his association with IIP proved to be the defining experience he needed. Delving deeper into Augustine's background and his foray into photography, I explored his work, his connection with the Indian Institute of Photography, and how his struggles transformed into remarkable achievements. Curious to know about Augustine's current endeavors, I asked him about his present occupation and his choice of course at IIP. Augustine enthusiastically shared that he is currently employed as a food photographer at Zomato, a renowned brand in the culinary world. Moreover, he revealed that he pursued a comprehensive one-year dual diploma course at the esteemed Indian Institute of Photography. Intrigued by his photography journey prior to IIP, I inquired about Augustine's exposure to the art. He humbly expressed that his photography experience was initially limited to his personal hobby, capturing images with his trusty mobile phone. However, this humble beginning played a pivotal role in guiding his career path. With a diverse range of genres under his belt, including fashion, food, interiors, and product photography, Augustine considers himself a versatile photographer. He firmly believes that a photographer's skills transcend boundaries, and while his passion lies in product and fashion photography, he thoroughly enjoys exploring other genres as well. Reflecting on his transformative journey from struggle to success, Augustine emphasized that photographers do not become masters overnight. Instead, they evolve through the right education, dedicated hard work, and guidance. While no institute can guarantee success, Augustine considers himself fortunate to have found IIP, a distinguished institution that proved to be the perfect choice. Under the tutelage of expert mentors, he gained extensive knowledge and honed his craft. Recognizing the significant contribution of IIP to his success, Augustine credits the institute for providing exceptional training under the guidance of talented mentors. These mentors played a pivotal role in clarifying various photography concepts, while their unique teaching methods fostered his creative and artistic growth. Augustine also acknowledges the invaluable knowledge and reputation of Mr. Rajesh Goyal, the director of IIP, which helped him gain recognition in the vocational field. When asked about the challenges he faced while seeking work opportunities, Augustine shared that immediately after completing his course, he secured an internship with Vedic Craft. This initial opportunity served as a stepping stone to his flourishing career. Since then, Augustine has worked with diverse clients from various backgrounds. Currently, his association with the esteemed brand Zomato has undoubtedly propelled his career to new heights. Augustine's inspiring journey showcases the transformative power of quality education and the guidance of experienced mentors.
