PHOTO EXHIBITION ON DIVERSE N INTRICATE ISSUES, HITHERTO UNTOUCHED POETRY IN LIGHT, ANGLES N SUPER COMPOSITIONS
Landing up at an exhibition on photography and being asked to cut the ribbon and doing the lamp lighting was a surprise! But interacting with about 60 young lensmen and students of and fine arts was much more meaningful and satisfying! Present on the occasion were who's who of commercial and niche shutterbugs of India!
Indian Institute of Photography (IIP), Noida run by friend Rajesh Kumar Goyal, on the weekend was the venue for the exhibition that dealt with issues very diverse and hitherto untouched!
Impromptu topic ordained by Param Grewal , a leading industrial and food photographer - his son Karan Grewal assists him in latter - was Content and Photography, something I could speak on for hours! One line gist of 25-minute talk was : Sky is not the limit when you can explain your capture in 100 or more words through effective captions or a well-worded story.
Three young lensmen who had come together to organise the exhibition, which currently on at IIP (B-7, Sector 2, next to Sector 15 Metro station), Noida are : Chhayank Jindal, Siddarth Bhan and Sitanmay Maity.
Themes were as diverse as Tranquility through Horizontal Lines (Jindal), Woodland - a Product and Advertising campaign for the popular brand of trekking and jogging shoes, Natshastras - 56 Mudras of a particular dance form mostly in b/w and Voyeurism (both Sitanmay) - an aesthetic and beautiful symbolic depiction of an oppressed female in a dominant reddish-maroon shade!
Each presentation stood out with subtle powerplay of poetry of light and angles and a sprinkling of emotions, textures and expressions, figurative, allegorical, suggestive, yet allusive forms dished out in a melange of about 100 outstanding pictures.
Students apart, credit goes to mentor Manish Sehrawat, an M. Phil in Mass Com from Kurukshetra University and a protege of O.P Sharma of Modern School in photography!
