Capt. Vikas Gupta

Capt. Vikas Gupta, a veteran in his field, was appointed as the Chairman of the U.P. Council of Agricultural Research on March 11, 2019. Born in Bharthna, Etawah, Uttar Pradesh on June 11, 1970, he comes from a family of freedom fighters. Both of his grandfathers were prominent freedom fighters in Uttar Pradesh.

Capt. Vikas received his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Institute of Engineering and Technology in Lucknow in 1993. He has a diverse background that includes experience in the central government, corporate sector, social, and political fields. He started his career at Lohia Machines Limited in Kanpur and then joined the Indian Army as a commissioned officer in 1994. During his time in the army, he served in the elite Bomb Disposal Company in New Delhi Cantt and became an accomplished bomb disposal and detection expert. He has undergone various courses such as a Commando course, a Bomb Disposal and Detection course, and an IEDs course, and has provided training to organizations such as IB, CBI, RAW, NSG, and other paramilitary forces. Capt. Vikas was also part of the Prime Minister's security team from 1997 to 1999.

In 2001, Capt. Vikas joined the Revenue Services after passing the Union Public Service Commission Exam. He served in the Central Board of Excise and Customs in New Delhi before resigning in 2007. He then ventured into the social and political field in 2008, where he exposed various scams like the NRHM Scam, Yadav Singh Scam, DND Toll Scam, and the Andhra Pradesh Power Scam. He was also a member of the BJP's Manifesto Draft committee for the 2019 Loksabha elections.
