Weekend Foundation Photography Workshop
Workshop Overview
This 2-day Weekend Foundation Photography Workshop is designed for young adults between 18 and 24 who are curious about what photography can really do - as a creative practice, as a profession, and as a way of seeing the world differently.
Mentored by IIP Academy, Noida - one of India's most experienced photography education institutions with over 15 years of practice and more than 28,000 students trained across 40+ countries - this workshop is a focused, hands-on introduction to the art and craft of intentional photography.
In two days and four structured sessions, you will stop treating your camera as a point-and-shoot device and begin understanding it as a creative instrument.Location
Workshop Schedule
Day 1 - Saturday, 18 April
- Session 1 - Indoor
Understanding Your DSLR You will learn what your camera is actually capable of. Aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure - not as technical jargon, but as creative choices that every photograph depends on. By the end of this session, you will never shoot in Auto again. - Session 2 - Outdoor
Seeing Like a Photographer Take everything from Day 1 into the real world. You will practice shooting in variable light, uncontrolled environments, and spontaneous situations - exactly the conditions where great photographs are made.
Day 2 - Sunday, 19 April
- Session 3 - Indoor
The Language of a Photograph Light, composition, framing, and intent. What separates a click from a photograph is a decision — and this session teaches you how to make that decision consciously, every time you raise the camera. - Session 4 - Outdoor
Review, Feedback & Direction Your work from the outdoor session is reviewed individually by the mentor. You receive direct, honest feedback on what is working, what is not, and what to develop further. This is where the most important learning happens.
What You Will Learn
Your Camera
By the end of the workshop, you will have a clear, practical understanding of:
How to move off Auto and use manual settings with confidence. Understanding how aperture controls depth, how shutter speed controls motion, and how ISO affects the quality of light in your frame.
The Art of Composition
Rule of thirds, leading lines, negative space, perspective - the foundational visual grammar that makes a photograph worth looking at.
Photography as a Career
An honest, informed look at what a career in photography actually looks like in India and globally - the scope, the opportunities, the disciplines, and the path forward for those who want to pursue it seriously.
Light- Natural and Controlled
How to read and use available light outdoors, and how to work with studio lighting indoors. Light is not just a technical factor - it is the primary material of photography.
Seeing Intentionally
The difference between a photographer and someone with a camera is not equipment. It is the ability to see a frame before pressing the shutter. This workshop trains that ability.
Workshop Outcomes
Participants who complete this workshop will leave with:
A working knowledge of DSLR photography and manual camera control, a set of photographs shot and reviewed during the workshop, a foundational framework for developing their practice further, clarity on whether and how to pursue photography as a career or serious creative discipline, and a Certificate of Participation issued by the Faculty of Fine Arts, Bareilly International University.
